My Storybook Favorites

The Epics of Food (Paige's Storybook)

I found this storybook to be very fascinating because I have grown up eating some of the foods mentioned by Paige. Growing up in a Pakistani household, the cultural importance of food is very prevalent and was taught to me at a young age. This storybook brought some of my favorite dishes such as Kheer to life and it filled me with joy to read about them. The images as well as the way the website was set up made navigation very easy and the images gave the stories more intrigue and made them more exciting. The introduction eloquently provided useful background information on each of the three stories written by Paige.

Supernatural Women (Supernatural Women in Indian Epics)

One thing that really stuck out to me in this storybook was how detailed the introduction section was and how effectively images were used to amplify the stories told. This topic is something that really interests me because one thing we don't hear enough in my opinion is stories of powerful women throughout history. The images brought the stories to life and helped with the flow of the storybook. The stories themselves were super detailed and exquisitely written! I was super impressed by this storybook!

Advice for Lovers (Epic Love Guide)

The perspective that this storybook was written through is very unique in that the author presents herself along side the goddess Rati to take the readers on a journey of what love is for them. The stories are written as letters to the author and ask for advice on relationships to which the authors reply. This outline is interesting and definitely not one I saw often when scrolling through storybooks. As I contemplate my own storybook project for this class I can most definitely draw inspiration from this page!
