As the situation got worse, the people grew more wary of their role in the lives of others. Why should I halt my life so others can live out their own? What these people did not understand was how desperate the situation really was. Hundreds of thousands of their fellow countrymen could be saved if priorities of the group were placed above priorities of the own. Is this not the social contract they so desperately so fought for? It was becoming more and more evident who was selfish and who cared about the most vulnerable members of the group. Which side were you on?

  1. Hi Adam,
I enjoyed reading your short story! I actually had so much fun writing short microfiction almost every week of this course. I can hear the frustration and the hardship you went through just by reading your story haha. People do not seem to understand that their lives may not matter as much to others as it does to themselves.
